The goals of Magic Roots Preschool’s (MRP) curriculum are to encourage creativity, imagination, and problem solving. We promote each child’s learning with a mix of spontaneous and planned activities with the intention to spark individual talents and interests. Our approach follows the proven methodology of the Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum of nature-based learning and play-based curriculum. Our teachers observe what children are engaged in, and design learning opportunities based on the children’s interests, while at other times encouraging them to reach beyond their comfort zone in order to stimulate growth and enhance learning. With a 1-to-4 teacher to child ratio, each child has individualized attention.
Our OUTDOOR space creates an environment that encourages the exploration of gross motor skills allowing children to safely challenge themselves with the support of our teachers. Our age appropriate climbing structure and playhouse invites them to connect gross motor skills to imagination play with their peers. The kids take great pride in caring for the vegetables they plant in MRP organic garden, which they tend to daily. Once ready to harvest, the vegetables are cleaned and available to try! In addition to our organic garden, the facility has 6 fruit trees (grapefruit, orange, Kumquat, lemon and our personal favorite, avocado) which the children will have the opportunity to enjoy once ripe. This helps encourage the children to try healthy foods.
Our IMAGINATION PLAYGROUND is one example of the assistive tools that we use to engage the children which will promote motor skills along with mathematical thinking as they build with the foam blocks. Both indoor and outdoor areas will promote social interaction and motor development in a safe learning environment.
Our INDOOR space contains learning centers such as a hideaway book station, art station, manipulation station and our imagination station among others where children will be inspired to create, imagine, build, and explore. Our teachers encourage the children’s curiosity and the asking of questions as we build their communication skills.
